TRAVEL & WINE : Escape to Alsace

We recently visited Alsace to embark on a wine tour and tasting adventure in France that we offer in our TRAVEL and WINE tour options. It was a great getaway stopping first in Colmar to have lunch in the town before heading to our final destination at Les Jardins de Madeleine. , midway between Strasbourg and Colmar, and somewhere between the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle and the spiritual hot spot of Mont Sainte-Odile, is crossed by the famous Alsace Wine Route.

FIRST STOP

COLMAR

It's hard not to fall in love with this town, especially on a beautiful autumn day. It's a perfect day trip or stop on the way to the 2 day Wine Tour Escape. Perfect place to pick up some great local products and a stop for lunch and a sip of local wine.

SECOND STOP

Les Jardins de Madeleine

The newly renovated Château is nestled in the foothills of Alsace, across from small wine village of Bernardvillé - Itterswiller. We were greeted by owner and manging director Vanessa Timmers. We took a tour of the grounds and then settled in to our Classical Double room with view of courtyard, garden, ponds and plain. Then we headed down to the courtyard for an apéritif before heading over to our wine tasting and dinner.

THIRD STOP

WINE TASTING SOHLER & Fils Family Vineyard

The off to wine tasting before dinner at Sohler & Fils. We tasted 7 different wines hosted by François. Their 25-acre family vineyard under the watchful gaze of the father, Bernard SOHLER, until Bruno, their son, takes over. The Muscat with the hits of Fluer was our favorite and we took a case back with us.

FOURTH STOP

5 COURSE DINNER -WINE PAIRING

Au Caveau du Vieux Pressoir

After the wine tasting, we ventured over for dinner and enjoyed a wonderful array of localized dishes accompanied with wine with each course. Eric Schoenn welcomed us with great pleasure and his sole objective was creating an unforgettable culinary moment.

IN CLOSING

We had an exhilarating experience with beautiful accommodations, picturesque vineyards, tasting winemaking traditions, and the chance to savor some local cuisine. We look forward to sharing our next adventure
